Pope Francis Sympathizes With Families of Victims Murdered at Saint Francis Church in Nigeria

Pope Francis has expressed his condolences to the families and victims of the killings in Southwestern Nigeria.

At least 50 people were killed and many others injured including children in the shooting by unknown gunmen in the Saint Francis Church in Owo, Nigeria.

The heinous event that happened on Sunday June 5th, 2022 at Owo in Ondo State – Southwestern Nigeria, has saddened the world.

In a recent tweet, Pope Francis prayed for the victims of the appalling violence as well as for the transformation of the hearts of the terrorist gang members who perpetrated the atrocious act on innocent Christians.

“I was deeply saddened to learn of the horrific attack at Saint Francis church in Owo in Nigeria…” he said in the tweet.

Since 2013, Pope Francis has been the Bishop of Rome and thus the head of the Catholic Church Worldwide, as well as the sovereign of the Vatican City State.
